Casmir Patterson of SneakerHunt on his Saga Cassiopeia experience

JIn this video, we sit down with Casmir Patterson of SneakerHunt to talk about his experience launching his own Chainlets on Saga Cassiopeia. Casmir recently participated in the Saga Multiverse Hackathon and wrote an article about his experience working with Saga technology along the way. He demonstrated SneakerHunt in front of investors Merit Circle and Longhash. He is a skilled builder with experience building across multiple blockchains including Binance, Ethereum and Cosmos.

Key quotes:

“Saga Cassiopeia — with the way things happened in 2019, I could have had SneakerHunt up and running in three months.”

“I have had a really great experience, the documentation was really clear and self explanatory. Once I got everything running it was easy and it was a similar developer flow as Ethereum.”

“I think the main difference between Saga and other solutions is I was able to get my chain up and running so quickly.”

“Setting up a blockchain used to take a lot of DevOps and DevSecOps. You had to be able to set up a lot of back end and secure validator nodes. Being able to use Cassiopeia made it easy.”

“You’ve got a lot more control with Saga Cassiopeia. You can have your own chain and launch your own token — especially if you want a closed chain or closed system. It is very expensive in man hours to do this otherwise.”

“It really opens up the idea of metaverse and multi-chain hops.”

More about SneakerHunt

SneakerHunt grew out of Casmir’s enjoyment of collecting sneakers. The game combines location-based augmented reality and uses Saga Cassiopeia Chainlets to host NFTs of sneakers, which can be collected and customized by players.

The game uses a top-down overhead view where players can navigate their surrounding environments to find sneaker NFTs placed in their environments and then collect the sneakers to add to their collection.

Once collected, players can perform various actions such as physically printing (via 3D printers) a copy of the sneakers they found on the map.
